Vayana announces appointment of J Shankar Narayan to the position of Head – Banking, Financial Services & Insurance Products

This requires a strong focus in dialoguing with our customers, tracking market changes and trends , developing product road maps for each of our core product groups and collaborating with the Technology and Operations team to bring these innovations to market. This process needs to be managed well, should be inclusive and visible to all our customers. We need to have a seasoned leader familiar with the needs of our customers and better still a person who has seen the world from a customer’s lens and understands the processes and expectations of our customers. Consistent with this high standard, we are pleased to announce the appointment of J Shankar Narayan (Shankar) as the Head of Banking, Financial Services and Insurance Products. Shankar comes to Vayana with 3 years of Project Management Experience at Barclays Bank and over 9 years of track record with the Business Solutions Group at HDFC Bank. Shankar has a Master of Business Administration (MBA)From Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia, 1993 – 96.

At Barclays, his responsibilities included program management and roll-out of a core banking platform. He successfully handled major change programs and global roll-outs in co-ordination with Dubai and UK based teams. The core banking solution was also followed up by implementation of the Cash Management Solution, Internet banking, Global Sanctions Compliance program, CRM, IVR, Imaging solutions, KYC compliance as per group standards, IT – project implementation governance and risk compliance as per Delivery, Fiscal, Vendor, Risk/Control framework and Sourcing and Supplier Management.

At HDFC Bank, he was a part of the critical Business Analysts & Project Management wing of IT. He had responsibility for business systems implementation, client interaction, defining the scope of the project, define, analyse, validate and review business needs / functional requirements, understand “as-is” process, design “to-be” process and map process to system functionality. His implementation experience spans project management, requirements gathering and analysis, preparing functional specifications document, product evaluation, gap analysis, process mapping, test planning, vendor coordination, system implementation, user interface prototype, user Acceptance test and end-user Training. His experience include project implementation using Six Sigma, SOX and ITIL disciplines across Technology and Operations domain. Additionally he brings valuable Integration experience from the HDFC Bank-Times Bank integration project.
